Welcome to New Life Church Canterbury

A House of Prayer for all Nations (Mark 11:17).

New Life Church is a vibrant and multicultural church that serves the city of Canterbury and the surrounding areas. It is a member of the Assemblies of God UK fellowship and part of a worldwide family of churches. Our desire is to reach our local community and the people of every nation with the love and power of Jesus. We are really pleased to be a part of what God is doing through His people in the city of Canterbury. New Life Church is home to many families and a large number of students who come to Canterbury to study each year.   Many of our student members serve in ministry and others lead teams whiles they are with us.  We believe that while people are with us, God wants us to receive them, equip them and help them live out their life’s purpose. God has made us a House of Prayer for all nations and we glad to be welcome mat for the nations of the world.

What We Believe

  • We Believe that the Bible (i.e. the Old and New Testaments excluding the Apocrypha) is the inspired Word of God, the infallible, all-sufficient rule for faith and practice.
  • We Believe in the unity of the one true and living God Who is the eternal, self-existent ‘I AM’, Who has also revealed Himself as one Being co-existing in three Persons – Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
  • We Believe in the virgin birth, sinless life, miraculous ministry, substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, triumphant ascension and abiding intercession of the Lord Jesus Christ and in His premillennial second advent as the blessed hope set before all believers.
  • We Believe in the fall of man, who was created pure and upright, but fell by voluntary transgression.
  • We Believe in salvation through faith in Christ, Who, according to the Scriptures, died for our sins, was buried and was raised from the dead on the third day, and that through His blood we have redemption
  • This experience is also known as the new birth and is an instantaneous and complete operation of the Holy Spirit upon initial faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
  • We Believe that all who have truly repented and believed in Christ as Lord and Saviour are commanded to be baptised by immersion in water.
  • We believe in the baptism in the Holy Spirit as an enduement of the believer with power for effective witness of the gospel.
  • We Believe in the operation of the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the gifts of Christ in the Church today.
  • We Believe in holiness of life and conduct in obedience to the command of God.

To bring the good news of Jesus Christ to our community, and develop a passionate love for him in each other. As a Church we desire to be:

Become a Member

We believe that all you have placed their faith in Jesus Christ and in His finished work on the cross are born again into God’s household and are part of His universal Church.  We seek as a church to be inclusive, which is in keeping with the nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. We therefore seek to make everyone feel loved and welcome when they attend our services.  However, when we talk about membership, we refer to those who have moved from casual attendance to making New Life Church their home. This commitment is expressed in supporting the vision of the church, serving in ministry, and regular financial support to help the church fulfil its God-given mission.

You will not be joining a building but a people, a family of God who are working together to fulfil His plan and purpose. Before you make such a decision you must be clear that God is leading you to make New Life Church you home in this season of your life.

Becoming a member

If you are interested in finding out more about the church and how you can become a member, we would be excited to enrol you into ‘Growth Track’, our 4-week course designed for the purpose of connecting you with the vision of the church, your God given purpose and showing you how you can use your God given gifts to make a difference. Each 45 min session runs online on a Sunday afternoon after the celebration service, with opportunity to sign up to membership after the first week.
